R/T - Clicky Spring Mod Guide

After doing a fair amount of forum searching to find a single guide to the "clicky-spring pen" mod, and seeing others with the same question, I've assembled here a quick guide and explanation (culled from the board's collective knowledge) on what the "clicky-spring" mod does, and how to do it.

If my understanding - and hence, my explanation - of how this mod works is wrong, please note me so I can address it.
-------

Fundementally, the click-spring mod is about replacing your stock trigger spring with a lighter one, allowing for a lighter trigger pull which makes it easier to find - and hold - your R/T trigger in its sweet spot. We'll be replacing the trigger spring with the spring from a click-pen. I, like much of the board, recommend the Papermate Flexgrip Elite. In addition to the pen, you'll need a 1/8" hex key.

The Pen:

Unscrew the front of of your pen, and take the spring from it:

This will become your new trigger spring.

Now, grab your A-5.

As always, be sure your gas source is detached, your hopper is empty, your bolt is clear, and the marker is completely degassed before opening it up.

Removing the grip on the A-5 from the frame is fairly straightforward. Push out the two push pins at the top of the frame, and (using a 1/8' hex key) unscrew the ASA adapter from the bottom of the grip (Assuming you have a bottomline.)

Gently but firmly peel the grip off of the frame.

Once you have the grip off and the hex bolt removed, Simply pull the safety out and extract the trigger block.

You'll note that the block has two side-plates, which can simply be peeled off.

Go ahead and remove the left plate, leaving you with access to the trigger's internals.

At this point, it's a simple matter of replacing your trigger spring with the spring from your pen.

After replacing your stock spring with your new, light spring, place it back into your grip and reinsert the safety. Lubricate the R/T valve as needed, and from there, it's just a matter of guiding your grip back onto your frame, popping the two push pins back in, and reattaching your ASA.

Enjoy!

I'd like to thank the board for providing the info I've compiled here, and would also like to suggest that R/T owners go and look at Psyopper's excellent write up on the A-5's trigger and other R/T mods here: http://www.a5og.net/trigger-systems/...html#post14819

Also of interest to R/T owners is MisterMister's guide to tuning the trigger, here: http://www.a5og.net/trigger-systems/...html#post13140
