You can do the same thing with an APEX if you just leave it set to 3 or 4... it's only at the higher settings that you get that initial dip.

Quit simply, the APEX just gives you more options. It's up to you if you choose to take advantage of them. It's also not as picky about paint as the flatline is.

Personally, I almost always leave my APEX set to 3 or 4 (depending on the paintballs I'm using). Never tried to fool around with the trick shots either.
