An A-5 does not come with a regulator. What you're referring to is the front/forward velocity adjuster, or FVA. It's simply a small bolt that sits in the path of the released gas when you fire the marker to create turbulence in the air flow. The more turbulence the slower the ball will be accelerated down the barrel. A regulator changes the actual gas pressure inside the marker which the FVA can't do.
