| Re: What Camo do you wear? I don't like that the conversation has gone this way, but since it has, I might as well jump on the wagon!
First off, being an American, I am not ashamed to admit that the Canadians were the first for the digital. I deal a lot with military history FOR the military, and we admit that we "ripped it off." The US also likes to add though, however, that we simply made an improvement on a "base model." lol
Second, your topic of respect and wearing the uniforms seems a bit tainted, don't you think? Because a uniform is "in service" it deserves the respect, but past uniforms, or better yet, the people that wore them, don't??? The tiger stripe that you seem to think is (in your opinion) OK to wear on the paintball field, was once worn by distinguished men that "earned" the right to wear it during the Vietnam era. These were mainly Special Forces Units. Those guys don't deserve the respect you speak of? Just like a HUGE article I did when the Army switched to everyone wearing a black beret..........HUGE mistake. What about the old boys that EARNED that beret? What a gigantic slap in the face for them now that every Tom, Dick, and Harry gets to wear one.
Perhaps when an individual wears the uniform onto the paintball field, he/she just might be doing it out of respect to the uniform, or it's wearers. He/she chose it over all others. It is a discussion that could go on for days due to the amount of camo that is out there, still in commission, or not.
I believe respecting your flag, your soldiers, their uniforms, and everything on that level is honorable. And I also understand that if you are currently in service, well, you simply have rules YOU have to follow. But he did mention that there are many differences between the issued ICE and what he is sporting. |
