| Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail I did some testing of the angles required for a standard 14" barrel this past weekend. I would take a piece of wood, mark 3 foot up with a target and move it away from my firing position at 50ft, 75ft, 100ft, and 120ft marks. I fired the gun from 3 ft above the ground and secured it in place once I was hitting the target. Took my red dot and aimed it at the target at stock values. I then took some measurements and figured out the angles required for each shot. Here are the rough estimates:
50 ft = 1 degree
75 ft = 2 degrees
100 ft = 3 degrees
120 ft = 5 degrees
These were taken with a decent tail wind but I don't think it will be a problem for this design. At MAX setting, the APR can adjust 15 degrees. So I'm pretty sure it can handle any wind deviation for a standard barrel. Flatlines and apexes can probably make good use of this thing, too.
Worked out a couple details but only have a couple more to work on. Hope to have the final design done in a couple weeks.
