| Re: Black Sun (TX 7-19-08) AAR for black sun... I arrived on site at about 13:30hrs and started getting the props together. The first players started showing about 15:00hrs. By the time we hit 17:00hrs we had right at 36 players. The UN forces had 15 players who were a mix of small scenario team who drove down from Oklahoma City and a team who finally crossed the fence from official paintball in Forney named Tango Alfa. The Rebels were numbering 21 and were filled with new players. Two showed up then left to go buy camo and came back for the game... first time on a paintball field. The leader of the Rebels was Pyro from The mansfield based 451st Punishers. He dragged four other old team members with him. The UN commander was Mel Hall. Mel Is the Commander of the Young Marines unit from Trinity Valley and Kaufmann. Brian Well who owns a string of 5 Subway stores in Bedford joined us as well. Aaron Pruzanied from JT joined us on the field as well after 18:00hrs We started off the scenario with the Angolian rebels down at grande and the UN were to get the Black Sun from them and make it to mustang village. The rebels set up in the wrong location and found themselves needing to get the package into the fort at grande. By 18:00hrs the UN mannaged to ambush the rebel patrol taking the package up the road 75 meters south of the fort. After a short break the UN rolled north to mustang. They were harrased by a row of small two-three person ambushes the whole way. The UN forces missed their time slot in getting the package to mustang by less than two min. The rebels got the package at 19:15 and rolled out to take it back to grande. The package changed hands four times in 5 min in a heavy firefight. The rebels finally managed to get the package back and secure by 19:45. After a water, paint and air break the twilight game brought cooler weather (down to the upper 70's), low light and 9 new players. We dropped 6 on the UN side and the other three were with Pyro's bunch. This made the teams 19 vs 17. The Rebels rolled up the road as the sun went down. The fire fight started in the 1st min and built up more as the game rolled on. The package changed hands half way into the game but the rebels managed to retake the package before the end of the game. The next game started at 22:30 as the Rebels tried to hold the ville on the upper field. The moon came up full and bright. you could almost read your field map in the moon light. it was a 30 min game... as the game started a couple flares went up and smoke popped. Players moved out fast but then settled in to a creep. Not a shot was fired for almost 15 min. Then a shot here and a shot there... then as the last 5 min was called the field lit up in a hail of fire. As one min was called out the lights on the package could be seen moving as the a UN player made it about 10 foot and shot out. Then another UN player snagged the package and started running. He was shot out after another 20 feet. The package lifted up and the hail started again. 5,4,3,2, player tagged out less than 20 feet from the goal and 1. 23:15 the next game started with a bang. Both teams were teams were right on top of each other. The fight was to break the close call from the last game. The shooting was epic. Finally the package was snagged by one of the first time players and pulled into rebel control at about 23:35. We stopped for paint and air. Most players were still going strong. The UN walked their defense for the final game and made plans. At 00:15hrs the final game started with a roar of people loosing all their paint they didn't want to take home. The Rebels flanked up the left side of the hills field up to stone henge over the grassy hill. The other side of the hill hid a road that made for one heck of a fight in the shadows. The lights from the speedball court left long shadows that a player would just vanish in. The smoke covered the field in waves. The flares made the whole field look like it was burning. In fact... one of the refs and I put out a grass fire during the game. The UN not only held their ground but managed to end the game holding the Black Sun. The UN won the scenario and the Rebels took the points... a close game all around. Norman- the newest player managed to get four consecutive kills in one game, steal the package twice and gave better than he got in most cases. MVPs- Matt Cambell (rebels) Igor Barovic (UN) Hope to see you all at Market Garden!!! |
