Depending on what you want,
Hunting patterns are very passive and work very well if you are not moving, they work very well at close range and standing still that is why I use RealTree or Natural Gear when Bow hunting.
Military patterns are aggressive and are made to work from longer distances and allow you to move.
I'm lucky to have a wide range of environments in oregon If I hit the Coast it's lush/green and looks like Siagon I can head East and get High Desert, or play a few spots that are totally 3rd world urban.
As crazy as it sounds I have found More and More that ACU is deacently effective in brush and very effective in High desert and Urban.
You really have to have the material in your hands to see how the colors from the enviornment effect how it looks.
Both Flecktarns- 5 color (woodland) and troppentarn (Desert Flecktarn) are some of my favorite patterns though.
Some may disagree but after a lifetime of hunting, War games, and military I have found that as long as all patterns blend w/the enviornment mixing the patterns instead of one pattern for all your gear is more effective becouse it breaks up you sillhoute more.
