I think if i realized i'd stepped out of bounds, i would just get back into the marked area immediately, but not call myself out. An honest mistake is an honest mistake, and i wouldnt begrudge it of anyone.
However, if i was out of bounds and actively engaging the opposite team, i would expect that any eliminations i managed to make would not count, and if a ref was handy and wanted me counted out, i would go without question - I would go as far as trying to make sure anyone i marked didnt walk off because of my inattention.
Personally im a big fan of using the terrain to my advantage ( protip - if you ever need to find me on the field, go to higher ground

) and that includes boundaries. I kinda notice on pub fields there is a sort of invisible area along the boundaries - if you stay low and IN bounds, people just dont think to look there.. patience and stealth can get you deeeeeep onto your opponents flanks every time !
But just automatically call myself out if i step out of bounds ? naw.. imho it'd be a disservice to both teams to lose a player for such a mild infraction.
