I've used both scopes and red dots and found them to be very impractical. While I did use both in game on rare occasions, they were both hit far more then they helped me hit people. I can just as easily (and much quicker) aim down my barrel and be just as accurate. The only reason I might put one on is for intimidation, or to obtain a certain look I'm going for. As far as being useful... I've seen people use them effectively but for the most part they just end up being another useless mod.
