there is a reason it worked, but your theory is way off.

fact is, muscles burn calories. The bigger your muscles, the more calories you can burn. more the calories you burn, the more fat your body will use.

HOWEVER: You are NOT burning fat while lifting weights. You burn fat when you are NOT lifting. IE sleeping, sitting, etc. All biochemistry aside, the fat is slowly consumed by the body through the day as it recovers from the workout.
