depends on what your fields rules are. You may not be able to pul the trigger and fire 40 shots, but you maybe be able to fire 3 in semi then hold the tigger. Or I believe there is a setting were as long as you keep pulling the trigger it will shoot fast. you may pul the trigger constantly at 6 ball per second, but the gun may fire 20 per second.
It all depends on the fields rules.
*Edit* but yes egrips are always legal if they are set to semi auto only.
