Re: Newer A5 right side receiver??

My understanding was that they were going to test out that design on the X7 and pending no issues with it they would be updating the A-5 with it also. I believe the new versions should also have the newer valve as well.

Re: Newer A5 right side receiver??

I'm sure you'd have to get a powertube with two holes in it too..

On a side note it'd be sweet to run 1/16 hoses to the cyclone and 1/8 hoses to the r/t

Re: Newer A5 right side receiver??

Yeah, sounds like they changed the A5 to mirror what they did to the X7. The flathead screw is a port for a Response Trigger fitting, and the oring is to seal the area where those ports are so that there's less leakage out around the power tube. In theory I'm guessing that it improves efficiency and cyclone operation.

I think its funny.... they bring out the X7, and then upgrade the A5 with the X7 valve, and even the X7-ish right side receiver. Obviously parts commonality saves money on parts AND service, but sheesh... why even bother selling them as different guns? Sell the X7 receiver halves, magwell, and grip as a "milsim upgrade" package to the A5....

Re: Newer A5 right side receiver??

You're exactly right. The X7 is so close in design to the A5, the changed just it enough so that not much was compatible (mostly barrels and the cyclone, but almost none of the "accessories" fit).

I think Tippmann / Special Ops really just made the X7 when they realized how much stuff and money other companies make on modifications for the A5. They designed a "new" marker, and they made all the accessories they could think of for the X7 and released it as a marker with mods at the same time.

It takes a good year for the aftermarket companies to design and make their X7 accessories, so Tippmann / So gets a 1 year jump above the competition, which = more $$$ for them.

Would the two different size tubes work or would the gas follow the path of least resistance and flow to/thru the larger tube?

Re: Newer A5 right side receiver??

I contacted Dead on Paintball and the rep said they will be putting out a new Powertube for the X7/new A5 with two holes in about 4 weeks.

Is JCS doing the same thing? Are their parts compatible with the newer style receivers?
