Re: Barrel O-ring

Oh! I think that explains a lot indeed!
Mine is unminstakably the new one on the left. Since I bought my A-5 early August, that's lucky!
And yes it doesn't seem to wobble... at all! Actually, when I had the two receiver parts open, I couldn't get the adapter out: it just seemed to be glued to the right receiver!

And to answer Merlin390:

yes I did remove the barrel from its adapter. I only did the tear down after that.

Alright, I wasn't trying to insult your intelligence just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing.

Lol! No offense taken! I didn't take it that way!
I know it's always better to make sure that we're dealing with the same stuff... especially since it's quite easy to get confused when talking about those little toys!

To get back to the subject: did anybody have some trouble getting the adapter off once the two receivers half were disunited?

Re: Barrel O-ring

I was able to remove mine when I leveraged it out by screwing the barrel back in so I'd have something to pull on.

That O-Ring does a great job on keeping the barrel stable!

I have to really loosen the receiver halves to remove it and switch to the Flatline, but the Flatline can come out when the screws are almost completely tightened. It's a huge difference/

Re: Barrel O-ring

Bought a JCS A-5 to 98c adapter. No o-ring groove. Cannot keep it in the receiver without significant movement and the occasional -almost- falling out (more like coming unscrewed). I'll have to mill the adapter for an o-ring. Anybody have a good strategy for doing it? I'm thinking plumbers pipe cutter or maybe the table grinder. I really don't want to juice up the part too bad. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the old style adapter without the o-ring. A couple of wraps of white teflon tape around the lugs will tighten everything up. Install the adaper while the front 3 receiver screws are loose (so as not to mess up the tape) and it should stay tight until the next time you disassemble the marker.

Re: Barrel O-ring

Is there ANYTHING teflon tape CAN'T fix? Thanks for the tip. I actually will try some strategically placed electrical tape to hold things together for now. I'm leaning towards milling the adapter, but I want to figure out the right tool to use first. I would give you rep, but have no idea how to do it. Sorry.

Teflon tape is the Duct Tape of paintball for sure!

FYI, the Rep button is at the top right corner of the post...
