Question lightened striker

I am on a quest for a low recoil gun and I realized that one of the major problems was that gynormus hunk of steel slamming back and forth every cycle. So I had a few questions and I want to run them past everyone here. First off, I wonder if it is possible to modify the stock striker to make it lighter (aka drill holes in it, or something like that) and if that could be done, would you need a stronger main spring to make up for the mass that is lost on your striker? Which leads me to think that if you did need a stronger main spring than it would defeat the purpose of lightening the striker? Also someone said that the newer a5 strikers are a lot lighter than the older a5 strikers, is this true? If you can follow my random thinking I'm sure someone will know the answers.

Re: lightened striker

You are correct; a lighter striker will lessen the inertia striking the valve, thus shortening the "dwell" or length of time & depth the valve & pin is opened. I have been toying with the idea of lightening mine because since I polished my internals and lubed it up with Slick-Honey the velocity picked up and my adjustment screw is almost all the way in. I think lightening the striker may work for me in that instance but may still require a spring kit to fine tune things. Dark Horizon has a Titanium hammer for the A5 that is much lighter:
Titanium Hammers
It's fairly pricey though. I have one of their hammers on a Spyder I converted to LP and it works great. Good luck.

yes but I was also wondering if you could modify the stock striker to make it lighter? That thread is mainly talking about the dark horizons striker its self.
