| Re: The End cap.. yup! didnt know i had to though, never came with one before. would a tank o-ring work? Seems like it'd be a good size to use.

| Re: The End cap.. i got it. you're talking about the larger one that is "sandwiched" between the two pieces of plastic on the stock? I switched that one to the groove in the other, funny it didn't come with one.

| Re: The End cap.. Sorry, let me clarify better. On the stock plastic rear plate, there is a large gray o-ring that is "sandwiched between two plastic pieces. I removed that and slid it in the groove for the wire stock that is currently on. That's the only thing i need done right? That's the only thing i see that needs an o-ring. In the factory manual, that's the only one it calls for?

| Re: The End cap.. the o-ring number im talking about is "98-57 buffer o-ring. the only messed up thing, is that the factory o-ring housing collapses, or "squishes" between the plastic pieces on the factory end cap, and the metal stock i have does not, as it's one solid piece with a groove. are they all like this?

my metal stock is the same way. The purpose of the O-ring groove is for the O-ring BUT thats to make it FIT better in the stock. You still need an O-ring at the very tip of the stock(the end that goes into the reciever) to take up the shock of the hammer slamming into it. On the stock end cap the "sandwhich" acts as collapsing/ piston type shock absorber. Since the metal stock is only one piece there is no collapsing shock absorbing effect. So you have to compensate for it by placing the O-ring where the hammer strikes it, at the very tip. |
