The End cap..

I know the stock end cap is supoosed to be shock absorbing considering its made from a synthetic material. BUT when I bought my Wire Stock the endcap that mounts to the marker is made from Aluminum. I dont recall seeing a buffer ring to take the shock. When I fire the sound resonates down thru the stock and actually hurts my ears. Could I be damaging anything inside the gun. Any suggestions...

Re: The End cap..

Drop an appropriately sized o-ring between the bolt and the buffer cap, and you should be fine.

It oughta dull that ring too.

Re: The End cap..

You don't need to. The bolt's motion will keep it upright, as long as it's the right size.

Look for an OD just a hair smaller than the OD of the rear bolt/striker/hammer/whatever you want to call it.

Re: The End cap..

I was thinking, is the oring around the barrel adapter the right size? I think it is or if not very close to it. I cant remember if I tried this or was just something I was planning on trying

Re: The End cap..

Well i bought a JCS stock and also the RVA and yes it brought an oring for that same matter. So the hammer wont hit the end cap made of aluminum, to absorb the impact.

Re: The End cap..

I believe the size needed is a #117 O-ring. Try your local hardware store.

Re: The End cap..

Yes, I posted a Metadyne stock question about the same issue. The stock end cap is made of 2 pieces with an O ring sandwiched in between to absorb shock.

For stocks without this setup, you just put an o ring inside the A5 receiver halves. The bolt will smash up against it, and the o ring will absorb the shock.

DO NOT play without the o-ring, the action of the bolt knocking backwards could cause pressure on the push pins, ovalizing the holes in your A5 receiver halves, making the stock fit loose forever.

Re: The End cap..

wait, so where do you put the o ring? you mean loosely around the spring inside the receiver? I saw this on a 98 (nylon), is this what you mean? Or do you mean to actually seal the chamber and the stock? I have a rap4 wire stock, but don't have an o-ring inside my receiver (didn't come that way), but it doesn't ring, resonate or anything?
