Grrr Re: Scientific side by side comparison of leading aftermarket front bolts for the A-5!

Wow... Great write up. Guess I wasted that cash on the Starfire bolt .
Great work.

Re: Scientific side by side comparison of leading aftermarket front bolts for the A-5!

Well, if you need to get a new powertube, the bolt comes with it (at least with JCS). Also, theoretically, the bit of cradling on the end of the front bolt will prevent breaks.

I also noticed that the stock front bolt was very loose on powertube compared with the JCS Redhot powertube + Hexadecagon bolt. I only got it because my stock powertube broke, but I think its a good investment.

I would like to see the same test, but with the Apex. Just to see if infact at 100 feet and a high rate of fire, is the Apex more accurate? Thanks and nice work!

I can tell you this. I have a Palmer brass barrel, HPA tank, and Dead-On front bolt/power tube. Man is my marker spot on! I can literally put paint on paint in long consistent strings with this thing from 30-40' out. It’s rather quite remarkable. And this is while using a RT on full auto sweet spot mode while standing up! No prone or putting the gun in a vice either.

This is very interesting because I am looking for a new bolt. I was interested in the Wicked bolt but after your tests it seems that DOP is the way to go. Does this replace the cocking handle as well?

Re: Scientific side by side comparison of leading aftermarket front bolts for the A-5!

well, what this testing really does is raise the question: are new internals really worth the money for the little or no benefits they provide?

my answer is no. slight improvment if any usually isn't worth 30-50 dollars.

no, if you want stonger material parts like the metal powertubes from JCS, thats a little different. you are getting a stonger, longer lasting part. but still not really a preformance improvement.

no, the cocking handle is never a replacement part with any product i've seen.

Air-Hog makes replacement/custom cocking levers.

I would like to see a slight revisit to this experiment so that the Orange Howitzer bolt can be added to the statistics.
