Tombstone lip?

I apologize for the crappy pics but it's the best I can muster with the camera we have. If you look just inside the opening, between the opening and the channel down to the ASA, I have a lip of metal. Do all tombstones have this? If so, why? It doesn't make a full circle, only on the top and sides and it's way too small to accommodate for an o-ring or washer.

Probably just he way it was cast/milled.

There is a similar lip in mine too.

I've got the same lip on my Tombstone, so I think it's just the way it's cast.

Do you think there would be any problem in grinding it down, so long as the hole size isn't changed?

What's the point if it isn't hindering performance? To answer your question though, no it shouldn't hinder performance.

For other people it might not be worth it but if you've read any of my threads, I'm having consistency problems and am looking for any possible solutions. This is one of them.

I already dremeled it off. I would have tried it out but we have had tornado warnings around here and if I posted results, someone might call Shenanigans.

Boy, that's some hard stuff. Sandpaper wouldn't have done the job. A dremel was definitely needed to grind that down. It does look better and I did a small test. Can't say if it helped or not but compared to some of my other tests, I think it helped some.
