Metal front bolts?

Why don't more companies make metal front bolts? Most seem to be made of plastic while all the rest of the internals are made of metal. Would the metal be too hard on the paintballs?

I would think so

Re: Metal front bolts?

Added weight. Plus it's cheaper to mold a part than to mill or cast then mill a part.

Re: Metal front bolts?

Not sure, but I don't see any benefit of making the front bold out of metal. It's not like they wear out and the added mass of metal would probably cause some problems.

Re: Metal front bolts?

I would think that the metal could be polished and allow for a smoother action. I wonder how much more a titanium front bolt would weigh.

Re: Metal front bolts?

There are already delrin front bolts available (I know Trinity makes one) which is super slick, light, and much cheaper than titanium. There are aluminum front bolts as well.

Re: Metal front bolts?

Titanium would be good - light like plastic, low wear factor. But boy would that be expensive ! But still, if a metal bolt were to be made that woiuld fit the bill, I'd vote titanium too...

Re: Metal front bolts?

Come to think of it, I'll bet a titanium cyclone ratchet & spindle would be good too...

Heck, lets add a titanium receiver as well. This A5 is getting lighter (and more expensive) by the minute!
