Cannot shoot over 250

I am having trouble with my A-5 with a Dead On power tube. Dialed all the way in and brought all the way out, I cannot get my gun to shoot more than 250 fps. I have adjusted springs, replaced springs, nothing. What could the problem be

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

What air source are you using? What is your total setup? IF using a regulator, what pressure is it reading? Have you replaced the drive spring?

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

Total setup is A5, Dead on PT, regular and egrip. Nothing special.
Yes I have replaced the spring.

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

Welcome to A5OG!

Did the problems start when you installed the new powertube? Did it do this before? Are you using HPA or CO2? I had the same issue with my A5. It can be the older style rear bolt and valve. I called Tippmann and they replaced mine with the new style X7 rear bolt and valve. It has to do with the way the valve is made. There is some different milling to the new valve. If I used CO2, I was OK but when I used HPA, I had the low velocity issue.

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

Most likely will be the valve.

This is the old style valve

This is the new style x-7 valve

Call them and see if they send you a new one or purchase it from tippmannparts.com

Awesome, I'll call them up and see what they say about getting one out. BTW I am running CO2.

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

Well, it's still a little cold in some places. If that applies to you then cold CO2 loses a lot of pressure. And just for some clarification, how exactly did you replace the drive spring? Did you just go for a straight stock spring swap or did you use a spring kit? Also do you have a buttstock or other non-stock end plate? Sometimes those have a deeper spring hole and you lose some tension from it.

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

Receivers could be torqued down to by the bolts. turn the bolts by like 10 degrees counter-clockwise.

How cold is it where you are playing?

As asked before, did the issue only arise after the install of the powertube?

Re: Cannot shoot over 250

It's possible the stock has a spring hole that's too deep. Try placing a BB in it to take up some slack of the drive spring.
