uh yeah, need a 3rd? (seriously)

I've actually contacted a friend of mine that practices ritual magic for advice (...also seriously)

I'm basically just stopping in to read this advice, there is some good stuff here.

Unfortunately, given your stellar A5 luck and greater than average intelligence, we have to exclude you I'll work more on the old A5 tonight and will purchase another soonish.

Re: Need help in resolving spiking issue.

you all raise very good points.

Couple of things to make note off...I usually turn my remote till the threads disappear and then stop....the shooting was NOT rapid fire, I was actually firing three slow shots and thne writing down the FPS for comparison then rinse-lather-repeat LOL.

I was just under the impression that a mojority of you out there were getting VERY good fps..

the things about EXCESS pressure on the madmann spring is also a very valid point. I was just trying to get the psi lower to have a gebtler effect on the PB.

sigh ....lol

You should make your rva as soft as possible actually, as this has an effect on the bolt, and bolt motion (it's attached to the hammer), resistance to the air resetting the hammer, and probably more that I'm not thinking of right now. Excessive pressure on the hammer causes the valve to be open too long, leaving more time for air based inconsistencies, and contrary to belief, the fva matching the powertube really doesn't make a difference. I get a +/- 8 spread, and I have that sucker almost all the way in (about a turn and a quarter from being bottomed out). Also, if you drop your input pressure to right around 700, it makes it a bit more consistent... anything more or less and it seems to make the spread larger.... hope this helps you dude, this is how I got mine to where it is... and its with a CMI inline reg (~40 bucks, but the only other one other than palmers that can handle liquid co2 properly).

At last! Someone else that realizes the FVA mod is a myth. I 'm also at +/- 8fps. My FVA is about 3/4 in, RVA w/ stock spring- adjusted rather soft, 600psi Palmer, Remote, c02.
In fact, I believe the "over loading" of the marker with more pressure than it needs to achieve field limits, than using the FVA to adjust down yields the best consistency. Just what my experience tells me with my marker.

Re: Need help in resolving spiking issue.

It's like any paintball mod. There usually isn't a great difference in performance increase.

Very true. Performance gains per time/money spent are not great. But for me and as I'm sure for a lot of us, moddin and tweekin to find the outer envelope of performance is at least half the fun!

Re: Need help in resolving spiking issue.

yeah and when you see a good mod that works well (like all of Chris' mods on my team), they are very impressive.

Re: Need help in resolving spiking issue.

Yeah, no problem. I forget what he has internally, but I can ask him. Mainly I am thinking of barrel mods off hand.

1. Apex secured to palmers brass with shrink wrap
2. Rain-X inside the barrel (yes it actually can increase velocity)
3. He has a palmers, etc.

I've been meaning to post and get some of the information out of him. I am not sure what he is running internally, but I know that a lot of the information is from A5og.net.
