So is this normal than if you don't cock it before?
Don't mean to hijack, I was just always under the impression I had an odd ball marker cause the crew I play with most say that their markers don't leak if they forget to cock it before (by most I mean all that I have asked...have not asked everyone yet)

And hopefully this works for you, It gets really frustrating when you can't use the marker because of a phantom leak.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

I think Matt's backup A-5 leaks like that if it isn't cocked.

It isn't normal per se, but its common enough. Its definitely not a big problem.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

Didn't think it was a major problem just thought it wasn't as common as it seems to be.

It's sorta normal. There are multiple thing that cause this to happen; heavy tensioned Rear Spring, less overspray inside of the receivers, loose tension on the Valve spring. Basically anything that would cause the Rear bolt to push against the Valve pin, even a little, could cause the air to go rushing out of the Valve, which would then go out the barrel. Depending on how hard the Valve pin is pushed into the valve you may have a lot of air coming out, or only a little.

That doesn't sound right to me. As I see it, excessive removal of internal material would cause at the very least recocking problems, because there is no airtight seal between the hammer and receiver channel. This means that the blowback air will leak around the sides of the hammer rather than pushing it back with enough force to catch the sear...right?

Re: Took Apart Internals..

That sounds plausible to me.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

But you would have to remove an excessive amount of material to have the air leave around the Rear Bolt when it is blown back.(over 1/16 of an inch, you might even need to remove 1/8) It's still very safe to remove the overspray inside your receivers as that's not even close to 1/16th of an inch. At least it wasn't on mine.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

I did the same thing. Took it apart and when i put it back together something was just not right. There was a leak and the bolt wasn't moving as well as before I took it apart. My problem was that I switched the springs. The long thin one goes on the cocking lever and the thicker one goes on the rear bolt/end cap
