Took Apart Internals..

I bought my a5 used a few days ago, and it worked great. I then took it apart to polish the internals, and when I put it together I noticed that it leaked pretty bad...The air pretty much all just came out of the barrel. I suspect it has something to do with the valve, but I really dont know. Also, when I took it apart again I happened to lose an oring (its the tiny black one) and I have no clue where it would go. I guess that could cause the leak, but I doubt it....Any help here guys?

Re: Took Apart Internals..

Take it apart one more time, then re-assemble it. Inspect each part separately and fully. Reassemble, using My assembly video, and see if that helps.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

The small o-ring probably belongs on a banjo fitting.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

if thats where the oring came from, (banjo fitting), than it wouldn't be leaking out of the barrel. There is always the "Washer first, Then O-ring" saying too.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

The small o-rings are from the banjo fittings. He can still be leaking out of the barrel and be missing a banjo o-ring.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

Did you try cocking the the gun before airing it up?

I got my gun brand new and for some reason if I dont cock it before I air it up it leaks like crazy out of the barrel...

I know this is not normal but I could never figure why it did it ... I have all upgraded internals now and it still does it.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

I agree. Cock the cock the gun before gassing up. They say to do it in the manual as well. Sometimes the air won't cause the valve to seat because the hammer is pushing the pin forward too hard. Cocking it will take the pressure off the valve pin.

Re: Took Apart Internals..

Cock the gun before you gas it up and you shouldn't have any problems. Like Lord Odin said, the Rear Bolt is resting against the Valve pin causing the Valve to be open and let the gas flow right out the barrel.

The small black o-ring would go on a banjo fitting.

Nope, Thats a Myth. Everything happens in the powertube, so he is safe in that aspect. Check to make sure your tombstone is properly attached, and that the oring that seats the tombstone in the powertube is not damaged. Alot of times its a cracked or split oring that goes unnoticed that causes problems.
