Receiver O-ring problem.

I am a new A-5 owner. I got a remote coil setup with it, and plugged it in to the upper receiver. Played the first two games without a problem (and dominated, I love this thing).

Getting ready for the third game though, out of the blue the gun started leaking internaly, fast. It sounded like it was around the upper receiver so I pulled that out, and the receiver O-ring, the one that sits on the rear spring-bolt, was loose. I could'nt get it back in place and did'nt feel like learning to take apart my gun for the first time on a tailgate so I was done. I hav'nt taken it apart yet to fix it.

My questions are: What likly caused this, is it something I did wrong installing the new air line perhaps? What can I do to prevent it. What is the best way to get the ring (and a washer that came out with it) back in place, without splitting the whole gun if possable?

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Receiver O-ring problem.

hi, and welcome to the forums!
"washer first, then o-ring, tombstone holds it in place" if you dont know what i mean, you will soon.

ironically, i think that this is your exact problem!
i'm not the greatest with descriptions, but it sounds to me like the washer and o-ring in your powertube came loose, it'll happen fro time to time.
the order putting it back together, you put in the spring, then washer, then the o-ring (it will fit snugly).
if this isn't the issue, my apologies, we'll see if we can figure it out and how to fix it up.

EDIT: i found a couple handy videos for you about this:

both are from KRA SHARPSHOOTER on this forum.

Re: Receiver O-ring problem.

First off, welcome aboard the A5!

You have come across the classic A5 fault as your first. Welcome to the club. We have a saying here, Washer First, then O-ring.

So long as the internal parts of the power tube have stayed in place you simply have to point the gun up and slide the washer back in. Then using a jewelers screw driver or dental pic, put the O-ring back and seat it down on top of the washer.

If the internal parts of the pwoer tube have slid forward, no big deal. The beauty of the A5 is the ability to pull the power tube out with out spliting the gun in half. Simply remove it from the rear and slide the parts back into the power tube and replace the washer and O-ring then.

I would suggest running your remote from the grip ASA position vice the tombstone. The more often you pull the tombstone out the more often this is likely to happen.

Re: Receiver O-ring problem.

Thanks for the advice on this guys. Yeah it seemed like if I were able to just seat that O-ring back in the slot I would be ok, but at the time I did'nt have a small enough tool to do it. Good to know I don't need to strip the whole thing.

And yeah I did'nt even realize I could screw the remote into the handle. I am going to put it back together that way.

Re: Receiver O-ring problem.

he said the washer off his rear bolt... are we absolutely sure he's talking about his powertube here?

"the one that sits on the rear-spring bolt" is what he says... any chance you can provide pics to clarify?

Re: Receiver O-ring problem.

I think so Cleric. Given the washer, O-ring and the fact he was running the remote off the tombstone. I was unsure at first as well.
