Too much or not enough polishing

i polished my internals w/the brillo pad method. everything looks great except for the front bolt area on my receiver. do i need to polish some more, maybe w/sandpaper? or did i dork up the receiver and need a new one? all maintenance/assembly on my marker is done per manuals/videos/threads i found here so i know that is not the issue. any ideas?

Re: Too much or not enough polishing

it looks fine to me... there' a little "smudge" of metal but one of my 98's had that... it's near impossible to polish too much w/ the brillo method

Re: Too much or not enough polishing

Ya, unless you're *really* ocd, it'd be really hard to deform the receiver sides with a brillo...

Re: Too much or not enough polishing

If you're really concerned, one thing I can tell you to do is put a hopper of balls through the marker. Listen to all the bells and whistles of the marker. After, strip down the marker and inspect everything. If there are any new scrapings or scratches on any of the parts there's a problem. If not? All good!

Re: Too much or not enough polishing

that was the first thing i did after seeing the area, when i took it apart i inspected the bolt and it looked like nothing was rubbing. i was just curious cause of all the pics of internals i saw on the forum here, none had an area like that. thanks
