Cracked Valve

well i decided i wanted to tune my RT finally today, I get it all set up and prrrd prrrd out. A5 was not re-cocking. Quick thinking concludes, i have no pressure to reset the bolt, i take it all apart and check rear bolt, power tube and every thing looks decent. power tube has no cracks and the valve is seated nicely in there, looking clean as ever. Put i all together and it didn't even purp it just pooo done. Everything looked fine the first time i pulled it apart so i figured id take the valve all the way out and give that a cleaning. Cleaned it got it all nice and ready, then noticed it looked a little wider at one end. upon further inspection i noticed 2 small cracks where the tomb stone enters.

now I'm just trying to remember how many cases i went threw before this.

Anyone know if this happens with use? like a lot of use. or might something have changed in my marker to cause the problem.

I run A5 SpecOps A2 air threw commando so the tombstone is always under lot tension. but its protected from getting slammed by anything.

Re: Cracked Valve

Mine is cracked in the same spot. But , a little worse. I have the old style valve, an it's lasted about 4 years. Mine had gone bad before it cracked. It wouldn't chrono over 240.
I just noticed that yours is cracked on both sides. Mines just on one side, But it's flared out allot more then yours.

Re: Cracked Valve

it looks as if there was forward force on the tombstone, perhaps you bumped the airline, stab, expansion chamber, mag, or whatever else may be attached?

Re: Cracked Valve

Terrible pics. But here's what mine looks like.

Mines cracked on both sides also. As you can see. One side is worse then the other.

Re: Cracked Valve

I wouldn't say it's a common problem. There was problems with the older valves going bad with loss of FPS. I've also heard an seen allot of powertubes breaking lately. But, I think as far as the valves cracking. MrChaseHughes an myself are just unlucky. My A-5 is 4 years old with many cases of paint thought it. So it was about time for something to break.
