| Re: Polishing internals data I didn't get around to the polishing video yesterday, but I will get it done this afternoon. I have to check my brothers 98 Custom and see if he has polished it yet. If not I will have data for both the Sandpaper & Brillo method.

| Re: Polishing internals data Added Link ->: YouTube - Polishing Internals - Sandpaper Method I finished the A-5 so here we go. I used 600 sand paper for the muscle work, then used 1500 until I got it smooth, & finally ran a wet Brillo over it for the shine. EDIT:After I finished polishing the internals, I wiped any residue out with WD-40, and left some on the receivers as a lubricant. I then oiled my o-rings and reassembled. I then test fired the 30 rounds. I then decided to see if Pure Lube or Gun Sav would work better in the place of WD-40 because so many people freak at the mention of WD-40 and o-rings. So I disassembled the A-5 and wiped off all the WD-40 from the receivers and internal parts. I applied a thin coating of Pure Lube onto the receivers and reassembled. I then test fired the 30 rounds. I did the same thing for Gun Sav, disassemble, wipe clean, lube, reassemble, & test shoot. /edit Unfortunately when I chronoed with the stock receivers I had to have the Velocity screw sticking out of the Power Tube to reach 280. I was stupid enough to forget to count how many revolutions I screwed it when I made it flush with the Power Tube, so I left it flush with the Power Tube for the remainder of the tests. After the testing was complete I guessed at were it was and the Velocity was at an average of 296 out of 10 shots. My Setup: A-5 with stock trigger, stock internals, complete TechT Cyclone, full 20oz. C02 with Remote Line. O would Shoot, write down chrono number, shoot, write down chrono number, etc. I tried to allow time for the C02 to stabilize before the next shot. Temperature: 65F, Humidity: 36%. Shooting took place through a gap in the back door. The receiver on top has been polished, but not lubed, the one on the bottom is stock: ![]() Here is both of the receivers lubed with WD-40: ![]() Stat Chart Attached:

| Re: Polishing internals data Nice job, KRA! That looks like a better polish job than I did on mine. Its a shame you didn't remember how many turns the FVA was. The SD's are still good though. One question about your data. Are those just the lubricants that you used to polish the receiver halves or are they used as a lube for the internals? I'm a little confused by the notes. |

Luckily I didn't have to screw the velocity screw in because I just lifted the receivers off. EDIT: Added to first post.

| Re: Polishing internals data Added Link ->: YouTube - Polishing Internals - Brillo Pad Method Results from the 98 are much more astounding! I used the Brillo Pad method, going through only two Brillo Pads. Both of my How To videos(sanding & brillo) will be up sometime tomorrow. Then you can see the methods I used even better. After I finished polishing the internals, I did the same thing as with the A-5; wipe clean, lube(WD-40), reassemble, & test shoot. Disassemble, wipe clean, lube(Pure Lube), reassemble, & test shoot. Disassemble, wipe clean, lube(Gun Sav), reassemble, & test shoot. I only used 20 shots for the test shooting because I was running out of paint, & the deviation was so close anyway My Setup: 98 with stock trigger, stock internals, Lapco 12" Bigshot, & full 20oz. C02 with Remote Line. I would Shoot, write down chrono number, shoot, write down chrono number, etc. I tried to allow time for the C02 to stabilize before the next shot. Temperature: 66F, Humidity: 35%. Shooting took place through a gap in the back door. Befor Polish: ![]() After Polish: ![]() Stat Chart Attached: EDIT: I added a second chart with a third table so you can see how the velocities compare to each other more easily.
