Re: Internals polish question

ok i took apart the entire powertube. examined and cleaned everything, oiled the orings, which are all fine, and put it back together. i refilled my airtank and tried it again and it's still leaking. it's definately coming from the powertube area, but i still can't feel any air coming out anywhere. what else can i try to stop this? should i just buy a whole new powertube?

Re: Internals polish question

There is no point in polishing anything that has no moving parts but while you're at it, why not? It does look nice when you open your gun up.

I would take it in to your local pro shop, or call Tippmann.

Re: Internals polish question

This just happened to me - drop 3 drops of gun oil in the sir tank adapter - gas it upo and fire a few shots - this will oil the internals well - give it a shot and let me know how it goes

Re: Internals polish question

also a low tank could do it, but it would have to be below 500psi

Re: Internals polish question

Hello!

I'm incredibly new to this forum, this being my first post, and after lurking in many I decided that this is the place for A-5 help.

Last night I polished my internals useing the Brillo method. I follwed the instructions to the "t". While it worked like a charm for the most part, I still have some questions.

1. After polishing the small front portion where the bolt sits, I noticed that one one half of the gun there was some etching. Not scratching, but a non uniform piting of the metal that only goes so deep (very shallow) from the surface that is in contact with the bolt. I used the same Brillo pads from the pictures in the tutorial, and everything.

2. I noticed that after I polished the hammer's area of the receiver there were some imperfections in the walls of the housing. By this I mean the polished area where the hammer moves back and forth. Quite literally it looked like a backwards "c", written with your non-dominant hand, forming an almost complete circle about the diameter of a pencil eraser on the surface. I didn't use very much pressure while polishing at all. Which leads me to believe that when Tippmann cast this side of my gun (the opposite side from #1 actually) there may have been a non-uniform mixture of the material used in it's pouring.

Again I followed the tutorial word for word, step by step, action by action.

3. When I received my A-5 I immediately took it apart and noticed the large amount of external paint that made it into the internal area. I didn't know you could polish it at that time (I'm still new to paintball in general, having a blast though!) and played with it stock. Now I see that my hammer has scuff marks on the leading edges for both the forward and backward motion.

Has this happened to anybody else? Will it affect the performance of the gun? Will it make for a less than nominal seal with the O-ring? By polishing the internals of my A-5, have I voided the marker's warranty?

I love this gun, and want to do whatever I can to make it as efficient and powerful as it is reliable. I have to say I'm not happy about it's condition out of the box, though. Simple things like taping holes up that lead to the internal areas before painting the exterior make a huge difference in perceived professionalism.

I'm not going to give up on my A-5 though. This gun is a beast.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the length.

Re: Internals polish question

Hello and welcome to the forums! Glad to see you've joined the discussion and stopped your lurking

As far as your questions, i've noticed the same thing for #1. i'm still trying to figure out what, if any, effect that may have. The rest i'm not so sure.

Re: Internals polish question

I had pitting too in the bolt part of my receivers, pretty much everybody here had too, cheap casting for a cheap gun!

About the warranty, depends on your reseller, the local shop here usually voids your warranty if you open up the gun! Can't even do a through cleaning, you got to pay them to keep the warranty.. Good thing i bought used!

You should not have any problems with the issues you described.
