lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

Hey guys,
I just had my A-5 powdercoated and upon reassembly, I have a huge leak that appears to be from the tombstone. I have replaced all of the o-rings in both the regulator and the volumizer. (I even tried a different regulator) I checked the o-ring and washer in the power tube and they appear alright. I also replaced the o-ring on the front bolt, but the leak is still there. Also the pressure gauge on the bottom of the volumizer is reading zero even though I had 2000 plus psi in my tank. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

Re: lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

I once had similar toruble where the tombstone to valve o-ring was just been worn down too much and brittle.

Everytime I take the thing apart, I make sure to oil the ring and the face of the tonbstone to help longthen the parts life.

It sounds like you've done everything else, but have you tried checking out this ring? Might just need a nice oiling/replacement.

This is assuming it is indded a leak from the tombstone area.

You have a guage on the bottom of the volumizer? The threads for that are sealed nice and good with tsome teflon tape or loctite, as well as all other air connection threads?

Good luck, just trying to get some more ideas on the table

Re: lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

I have taken the o-ring and washer out of the power bolt, oiled the o-ring and replaced everything back. It still has a leak. Just to see if it was the lpk that was the problem or not, I switched back to the original tombstone and braided line that came with the marker and there were NOT any leaks. So I am assuming the leak is coming from where the volumizer screws into the tombstone connection. Thanks for the help.

To figure out where the leak is coming from dip the piece in water. You'll be able to see the bubbles.

Or you could just put some soapy water in a little spray bottle and spray it where you think ou may have a leak. It'll make bubbles if there's air comming out.

Re: lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

Replace your tombstone adapter. I just had this problem after installing my LPK. The face of the tombstone wears after a while. Throw a new one in and it should solve your problem. I had to go through re-taping every one of my connections before figuring it out. If it is the tombstone it will sound like a valve leak, you'll hear the hiss at the end of the barrel.

Re: lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

Thanks Beaker and rfsoulja, it does sound like a hiss from the end of the barrel and the tombstone does bubble up when sprayed with a soap solution. I will try to get a new tombstone and see what happens. Thanks again.

Re: lpk tombstone leak & pressure problem

does your tombstone still have paint on the face of it? If not you could try just putting on a few layers of black nail polish.
