I'm confused!!!!!

In regard to lubricating my marker(which sounds very provocative when said like that), I know and have read that petroleum based products are a big no-no. I've read that White lithium grease is the way to go. So, why is it, when I went to Lowes to put some up and read the container, the first ingredient is a petroleum based substance. I'm lost and confused, are all White lithium greases this way, or is it just the ones that I found?

sincerely,
greaseless in Toledo

Re: I'm confused!!!!!

Use grease specifically on the ratchet and axle ONLY. Use oil on everything else.

Use the following pic for reference. Grease the red areas and NOWHERE ELSE.

Re: I'm confused!!!!!

The best way to re-oil the marker after cleaning is to apply a thin coat to the internal 0-rings. Then add 5-6 drops of marker oil (I use hoppes 9 gun oil) into the ASA and fire several time.

Also Gold Cup oil is also really good.

Re: I'm confused!!!!!

For the marker oil, I use Marvel Mystery Oil Air Tool Oil -

Since markers are air-powered, it works better - I've used it in my A5 since day 1, and have had no problems whatsoever. When I clean/tech the marker, I lightly dab some on the o-rings and on the inside of the clamshells. Then, before a game, 1 or 2 drops in the air nipple and it's set for the weekend.

--TAG--

PS - after a while, the o-rings turn from clear and whit to pink and red - it's the additives in the oil soaking in and doing some good.

Re: I'm confused!!!!!

Thanks guys, the marker oil I'm set on, but I knew some parts required grease. I just didn't want to mess up my litle girl. I feel better about the white lithium now.
