Upgraded Internals, many setups, confused...

Hey huys whats up, Ive actually been a member on this site for a month or two, but this is the first time I have posted a new thread. You guys seem to have the answers right away on other posts, so I felt there was no need for my input also.

I was lookin through the A-5 pictures and I noticed that a lot of 'em have the JCS Gold Powertube (w/out fva), and I have always been wanting to upgrade all of my internals. All I have now is a Psycho Ballistcs bolt in there, I don't have any kind of Palmers Stab. or RVA or anything like that, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to purchase the Red Hot/ Gold powertube WITH FVA. I went back and read the thread on the comparison between 4 powertubes and I didnt really see a difference between the stock PT and the aftermarket ones with fva.

Would it be worth it wo purchase an aftermarket PT with fva? I mean, do the setups with the Gold PT with no fva, reg, and rva make that much of a difference? I was going to purchase the X-7 valve, Reg Hot/Gold PT with no FVA, and the get the palmers female/male reg. How does that sound? Give me any pointers, sine you guys seem to know more about the internals. The people at PBR are 99% against upgraded internals and that's the site I am on most of the time....so, help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Re: Upgraded Internals, many setups, confused...

First of all, welcome to the A5OG. If you want A-5 info, you'll get the most help here.

Second: The powertube you choose, whether the Goldmember w/o FVA or Red Hot w/ FVA is completely up to you. I use the Red Hot. The FVA gives you slightly more adjustability when fine tuning your chrono speed. But it's also one of those things you can set the FVA at a certain point, then adjust via an RVA and/or Stabilizer. NOTE: the Goldmember requires an RVA for speed adjustments. If you aren't getting the Stab, you may want the Red Hot instead of the Goldmember. You can use an RVA with either and I highly recommend it.

The real benefit with either is the fact that you won't have to worry about tearing up the powertube. It's slightly more air efficient than stock, but also makes your A-5 a little louder.

Bolts: Most people will tell you that the bolt makes little difference in the A5. I tend to agree, but that doesn't mean that I don't have one. I use the Shocktech Bolt. It has an internal o-ring that fits over the skinny end of the powertube, giving a slightly better seal for air efficiency. I don't think any bolt for the A-5 makes a huge difference when it comes to accuracy.

The a50g people are typically far better suited to answer your questions regarding anything concerning paintball. Don't let other sites deter you from making an informed decision.

I personally recommend the Power Tube upgrade. Metal is much more durable then the plastic stock PT. One of my buddy's stock PT fractured during heavy play. luckily I had my stock in my bag and let him have it but I threw equal amount of paint and more but had no issues.

I got the Red Hot Power Tube with FVA from JCS.
