Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

I wanna do this but..Im kinda scarred. Im gunna use a buffing wheel w/ polishing compound.

Should I polish the entire chamber? I notice on the M98s youre not supposed to polish the entire thing.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

You can test your polish job by sliding your powertube into the assembled receiver halves. It should slide in easily but not rattle around.

Like in the pictures you can polish the entire insides of the receiver halves.

I wouldn't use any power tools to polish your internals. It takes like 5 minutes with brasso and steel wool by hand.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Me too. I used only 3000 grit sandpaper with water on both my a5's. They are both fine (and smooth).

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Thanks for the answers, i used 600 and 1200 wet sandpaper and then "brillo" to make it shine. The surface is almost like a mirror. The powertube slides in easily and if I use my hand I can feel a small gap, i messured 0.1mm gap.

Do anyone knows the effect of a to big polishjob? If you take to much?

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

I agree. And correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the 2 halves of the receiver are supposed to make an airtight seal. As long as the bolt doesn't rattle around in there, you should be fine.
