| Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals Thanks to Monitor and everybody's input! Well, I just polished my internals. I'll have to wait a while to test it out, my tank's empty and I need to replace the two stock pushpins. But it is noticeably SOOOO much smoother. Using the cocking handle the bolts slide back effortlessly and slides forward just under their own weight at a 15* angle. I've only played 4 times, less then 3000 rounds, and I'm already seeing scratches and grove marks on the front bolt O-Ring. This should stop now. I used the wet/dry sandpaper 800, 1000, 2000 grits. Then I used 0000 steel wool and then some nev-r-dul aluminum polish. I didn't have any WD-40, but I did have some Ronsonol lighter fluid to clean the receivers. It took me maybe 45 minutes taking my time. I didn't get over zealous with the sand paper. There were some spots of over spray I couldn't get, mainly near the "bottom" portion of the receivers. The polishing job also shows some of the indentations and imperfections. I'm definitely going to need a spring kit now, I had the velocity screw buried just to make 250fps, I wonder where it will be now??????????

You would think they would honor their product better than this. |

| Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals Just polished my internals today via Brillo method. Have to say it was easier than I anticipated. After reading everyones concerns prior to performing it, I got worried that it could completely go wrong. Let me tell you that if you are using the Brillo pad, all that can go wrong is getting splash back on your clean white shirt or if worse, some of the soapy liquid in your eye. This was easier than messing with my 1st gen WAS board that kept going thru full auto without pulling trigger. I only used one brillo pad since it seemed more than enough to do the job, wasn't looking for mirror polish even though I have Mother's and Brasso polishing compound. Just take your time and perform even length strokes like OP said. Thanks to OP, A5OG.net and contributers. |
