Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

I did this yesterday using the Brillo pad method. VERY easy to do. I would say that you get the most out of the first 1 minute of "polishing" per side using this method. Anything beyond that will take a LOT of elbow grease to make any additional improvement.

Mine is nice and shiny, and I didn't chrono test, but it has to be better and should aid in keeping it cleaner inside if nothing else.

I do still have the very slight "machining" marks where they grind out the barrel at the factory, but that would take sandpaper to get rid of. Maybe the next time I need to tear my marker apart I will do that method, maybe not...

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

I'd say that mine was a bit shinier and cleaner than that, but they would be different age and usuage markers, and the steel wool and Brillo pads are most likely slightly different in abrasiveness. Another guy on my team picked up a set of steel wool pads in various levels of abrasiveness. He is going to try using the rougher stuff first and work down to the really fine stuff after our outting tomorrow. Even so, yours probably looks 100 times better than when you started, which is the goal. Good Job!

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Well I had a strange reaction once from my gun after I first polished mine out. What had happened was my gun sorta double fired and then I had to re cock my A5 after that.

I got new sails and it seemed to fix this problem. I have not gone paint balling in some time but I'm sure it was 100% fixed.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

There is no way you can possibly ruin your A-5 with this mod if you are following the instructions, unless you are using a chisel & hammer or trying to reroute air flow...

I have done this mod on two A-5's and one 98 Custom, all of the markers gained 10 fps and were actually quieter than before. I fully recommend this mod to anyone, and those who don't do it are just missing out on the #1 free mod you can do for your A-5. Thanks MONITOR!!!

What kind of problems that they confidently link to polishing of the receivers?
