Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

So, does one polish the internal components as well? Also, I notice a little (for lack of a better word) "corrosion" inside the rear bolt. Is it recommended to polish this, or will that hurt anything?

You mean like polishing the Rear Bolt, NO! You are just polishing the receiver halves.

As for the "corrosion" on the rear bolt; if it ain't broken, don't fix it. I wouldn't worry about it to much, unless it's been there for a while, then give Tippmann a call and they should send you out a new Rear Bolt.

PBJ Time Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Muchas gracias sr. Monitor! I just did this for the first time. The hardest part was putting it all back together, but I know... this was only how to polish the internals. Felt like a total tweaker. This whole board is just fantastic! Thanks again!

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

At the end of 29 pages I was amped and ready to complete my first mod on my A-5 I have been using for about 1 year.. I went to the shop where I purchased my marker just to get a second (248th?) opinion and the owner stated this mod is waste of time, will ruin the gun, won't make a difference, the markers are designed to work fine with the overspray and I should just switch to HPA. Needless to say I need some encouragement about performing this mod and want to know if anyone has had any major problems? From what I have read there are mostly positives and the negatives were just assumptions. I like the idea of a quieter, more efficient marker. I do not play enough to spend the $ on HPA, and I think the tanks are too bulky. Sorry for the novel for my first post and thanks for this thread. I just need some feedback on a possible $60 gamble ( as the owner put it) to buy new halves for my A-5. Thanks

Think of it this way. If you have any questions or doubts, you've got a great resource to help you out right at your finger tips.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

The shop owner has apparently never done this before, or he's one of the EXTREMELY few who have had non-standard results of this mod. Millions of players have done this, and maybe 30-45 of them have had results so bad that they had to replace the receiver halves.

Gamble? Yes. So overwhelmingly in your favor that it's not really a gamble? Yes.

Exactly!

It seems as if the shop owner that you spoke to does not have much experience with this mod. I have done it to about 5 markers using the brillo method and it has made all 5 more efficient with no problems at all. If you use the brillo pad method I would say your chances of ruining your marker are nearly impossible.
