Polished internals allow for smoother cycling of the internal moving parts, also it can help lenghten the life of your O-rings as well. (smoother surface vs rough surfaces).

As far as polishing too much, you don't need to worry about that so much as people seem to think sometimes. The rear bolt only needs to make an air-tight seal in the rear of the powertube so that the blowback stage forces the bolt out of the power tube for the next cycle.

If you look at the receiver halves before polishing you will notcie then that there is not an air-tight seal such as with the rear portion of the powertube.

Like others said, just make sure the surface is nice and smooth, glossy look is good, but just don't spend too much time on them so that the bolt starts to rattle around from side to side.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

Leaking from the barrel is usally caused by a bad oring in the powertube. Check that.

Yeah, If the seal was so critical there, they wouldn't have made the receiver split in half like they did.

The key to think about the bore-size (after sanding) is how the O-Ring fits; not the metal bolt.

Also, you may need to install a new O-ring to obtain the proper fit if the old one is heavily used.

Re: How-To: Polish Your Internals

no, get some sort of polish, like brasso, i personally used mothers polish and some steel wool, very fine steel wool, and a little tub scrubber, a SH*t load of paper towels, and WD-40.. it works like a charm.. also, do it in a sink, put mothers or polish on the scrubber, the apply it with that, the use the steel wool to remove the overspray, the clean it, repaet like 10 more times or until reflective shinny, then wipe down with Wd-40.
