Re: Red-Dots: Reflex vs. Tubular

Everyone's preference seems to be for the X7 hoppers. In the images of an actual x7 the hopper still overhangs the top rail a bit. Is this the case with the A5 as well? Will it interfere with the sight significantly?

It will. I have the X7 slim line off set. You can get it from allenpaintball.com for $13. Doesn't block and is a little smaller. They have three different sizes from 240 balls to 150 balls depending on how you play.

Re: Red-Dots: Reflex vs. Tubular

A point I haven't seen made yet is that with the reflex type of sights you don't have to worry about water/humidity getting in the optics. With the closed style if you get any moister inside its a tough job to get it out.

Are you refering to the T2, T3, T4 hoppers that are also sold on some other sites? I can't seem to find any reference to an "x7 slim line" hopper. It sounds cool, but where is it? Thanks.

One thing to note. The bigger the field of vision, the higher the effects of parallax. (Especially if its a cheap sight.)

Tippmann makes an offset X-7 hopper. It's not slim line, but does work well with a 30mm red dot. The cyclone and hopper still obscure some of the view looking through the right side of the sight, but not the center where the dot is at, and that's what counts. I bought my offset X-7 hopper from FamousGuyPaintball on Ebay. It was $14 shipped.

Re: Red-Dots: Reflex vs. Tubular

I have a 42mm NCstar tubular red dot sight. Very nice and tough. I've had some paintballs hit directly into the lens (without any protective cover on it) and it didn't break. Easy to clean, just put it in the sink or use a water hose, and rinse generously. Battery is in a pretty much waterproof compartment so no worries about water. Easily adjustable windage and elevation dials.

Also quite unexpensive for the quality you get (about 50$)

Re: Red-Dots: Reflex vs. Tubular

The reflex sights are fine for paintball. The adco and NCStar sites run a little cheaper than your typical tunnel red dot. As stated, they are only for quick target acquistion. I only use them when playing in open fields and sparse woods, otherwise in cqb games, the peeps work fine.
