Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

I've read online about gun mounted cameras and head mounted displays. The idea has always intrigued me and so I started to put together some functional yet affordable parts and pieces and see if I can actually come up with something functional.

I've purchased a battery operated 1" video screen and a 9v battery operated day / night security camera.

I've had this project on my bench for like a year now and figure it's time to see if it can even be done.

I wonder if it will be useful or not.

That should be pretty sweet, having a cornershot gun. Youll never get hit in the mask again.

I probably wouldn't want it in the woods, but in an area with buildings it could be very useful.

Also, if you play with gun hits counting as eliminations, then its usefulness is somewhat reduced.

Re: Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

this is an excellent idea. a friend and i set up an inexpensive "nanny" cam as an underbarrel to record games (think 'doom', except instead of demons, you've got fat guys in mismatched camo huffing and puffing and screaming expletives.) the feed ran into a digicam in a protected pouch on the cameraman's vest. like i said, though, this was just for recording. surprising that we never thought of using it as a hud. you could probably conceal the whole power source inside one of the larger clip kits from opsgear or specops.

you guys are giving me way too many good ideas. there goes my summer

edited, again, for poor grammar. and i probably missed some, anyway.

Re: Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

Cool! Good luck with your project. That'd be a sweet thing to have in urban settings.

Re: Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

okay, now maybe i'm getting a little bit far afield, but i was playing with my nephew's remote-control tank over the weekend, and this thing could serisously take a 9"/70-degree incline no problem. what if one were to attach a small camera to that, and build oneself a paintball version of a bomb squad robot? and then maybe you could equip it with twin a-5s remotely operated, and then...

(taking a breath) yeah.

Re: Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

I'm sure you could hook up maybe a light marker, such as a pistol with a hopper on it and one of palmer's 12gram to remote adapters. Then just put an e-frame on it and somehow get your remote to trigger it. That would be cool. A Pirahna USP would work good for this since you could get the e-force frame for it.

Oops. I just realized how off topic this post was.

Re: Gun camera / Night vision - maybe?

Start the tank topic on a seperate thread. I saw an article in APG a couple of years ago where someone did just that with the HUD. Worked pretty well. I always wanted a remote camera set up to watch later. BF finish it up and let us know.

Now someone get going on that tank topic.
