Howitzer Bolt

I have the bolt, and ive heard good things about it but i used it with my stock power tube and i was breaking balls in my breach like crazy now i noticed on the package it did say to sand down the powertube to make up for the new inside O ring.. i talked to a tech at my local field and he said you don't need to sand the power tube or even use oil on the new bolt which i found a little weird i thought all o rings should be oiled?!?! : anyways since ive used it without the sanding i did oil but it made my gun shooting horrible so ive gone back to my stock one for now. Id love to use the new bolt i dont like wasting money and i also have the full tech t cyclone mods (except squishys) so it wasnt a feed problem i didnt have any breaks in my cyclone either there were all right beside the bolt. Does anyone here use this bolt and if so what did they do? ive heard about the jcs red hot tube but again more money? to make other mods work right? im getting bombarded haah anyways let me know

I just did a short write up on the Rufus Dawg bolt and tube on X7OG... I love it... I was breaking paint before... not at all now!!!

Rufus Dawg Wicked Bolt for the X7

Maybe this could be your answer!!!

I also have one in my A5 now... I just haven't had a chance to use it... they are marker specific though! I will test out the A5 one this coming weekend with the Rufus Dawg bolt... But right now, my A5 isn't chopping paint with my JCS front bolt...

Re: Howitzer Bolt

Take some fine wet-dry sand paper and work the front end of the power tube a bit (I used 300 grit paper and worked my way up to a quick finish with really fine paper). You don't need to take off a lot. Prior to doing this I was smashing to. I do oil the O-Rings on the bolt. It works. When you sand do so in the direction of the action as you want the micro scratches (sanding) to be in line with the action of the bolt.

Re: Howitzer Bolt

I don't know what that field tech was smoking, but just because the bolt is delrin doesn't mean you don't have to oil it. Whatever you do, don't ever let that guy touch your gun.

I use my Howitzer with an aluminum DOP powertube, and I've never had any issues with breakage due to the bolt. Breakage in the cyclones, thats another story entirely... Because of the inner o-ring, the Howitzer does need a really smooth surface to ride on, you can sand and "polish" the plastic stock tube, but in the end my advice is go to an aluminum tube, less likely to crack with age, and smoother operation with the bolt.
