Gauge Installation on Palmer's Male Stab

Question. I got my palmer's male stabalizer today as well as a small 32 degrees 0-1200 mini gauge. I'm assuming the gauge does where the hex screw is (opposite the line in fitting). Any suggestion on getting that screw out? Its teflon'd in, and I'm hesitant to resort to more voracious wrenching, but my hands an an allen wrench are not lossening it.

Any suggestions or should I just wrench away on it until its loose?

EDIT: Another question. Any tips on removing the bolt nuts from the reciever back? One of them is starting to strip, and I have a replacement, can't get the nut out though. no pun intended.

Re: Gauge Installation on Palmer's Male Stab

The gauge should go in the hole that you mentioned (on the left of the image opposite the intake).

Don't worry about taking the nut out as it's nothing more than a plug and shouldn't come in contact with any of the moving parts inside the stabilizer. Use a blow drier to heat the nut before twisting it out. That should loosen it enough. Make sure to add Teflon to the gauge to prevent air leakage.

As for the receiver nut, I removed mine using a dental pick that I got from a hardware store. You can also insert a screw about a quarter of the way in and shimmy the nut back and forth. Use a thin eXacto knife to remove any excess paint on the nut so you don't chip the receiver paint.

Welcome to the A5OG. I hope that helped.

Great, thanks for the assistance. This forum has been very helpful! Just got a pile of goodies for the a5 that matches the initial price. I'll have to get some pics up when things are all together.

Re: Gauge Installation on Palmer's Male Stab

Question about gauges . . . all is hooked up (no leaks!) but what is the gauge measuring, input or output pressure?

I Have a half empty CO2 tank that I screwed in and the gauge measured about 800 psi. I thought the palmer output pressure was preset to 500 psi or so, so I'm assuming it was measuing input psi.

I beleive that is the pressure that is going into the gun. You can probbly turn the pressure down to about 650, but make sure the cyclone still can rotate.

I had a problem with this too (as in the original post). I used a hair dryer on the nut for about 3-4 minutes to get it warmed up nicely. I then took a solid piece allen wrenched, wrapped part of a t-shirt around it so I could really 'crank' on it without it cutting into my hand. I gave it a few hard pushes and it eventually loosed. It really was stuck on pretty well.

If you still can't get it loose, wrap the stabalizer in a t-shirt and gently place it in vice. Use the same allen wrench with a thin piece of pipe, bit extention, etc... to get some more leverage on it and try again. Warming it up helps.
