The first was that when you push down on the lever and it pushes up on the hopper lid, the lever wasn't quite long enough to consistently flip the lid all the time. I lengthened the tip so that is was more pointed and the lid now opens every time.

The second was that after you open the lid you tend to point the marker downwards. When I did this my lever would flip down and be upside down. This prevented me from just flipping the lid shut. Here's a picture: (with original rounded tip)

So I started tinkering and came up with the idea of lengthening the bottom portion towards the back of the hopper so that it would catch the lever. This works wonderfully! I can now flip the lid, tip the marker forwards fill it up, and snap the lid back down and it closes. Here's pictures of my template: (with extended tip)

Here's the actual template*:

*I tested the template by printing it at Actual Size and cutting on the Inside of the lines.

this helps ALOT
a more deatiled how to would also be very helpful
question how long do u make the cut in the hopper?

Re: X-7 Low Profile Hopper slightly modified///quick release

Quite a bit easier to make than my version, and costs less too.
