Question Winter Tinkering...

I was gonna start some winter tinkering and upgrades for my A5, nothing major, nothings too expensive, here is what I currently have:

Tippman A5
Response Trigger
Squishy Paddles
Flatline Barrel
Remote Coil Kit
'Semi-polished' Internals

And here is what I'm planning to get:

Polish my Internals Properly
Upgrade Cyclone Ratchet
Red Hot Power Tube
Thumbscrews for Front (Flatline)
Thumb Adjustable Velocity (Side, not Back)

Does anyone else recommend any other simple modifications or purchases? Also, could anyone provide links to the screws I need, as well as a place that gives a good price on the Power Tube and Ratchet upgrades? All help is appreciated.

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

Bonus Stage! Use this thread to list your 'off-season' paintball mods, or any upcoming simple mods you're planning on.

Re: Winter Tinkering...

Well, if you don't have an X7 hopper, that's always a good idea.

I don't recommend the thumb adjuster, because most fields won't allow it. Far be it from me to imply that you would ramp velocity on field, but most fields don't want to take the risk.

Oh yeah, I have an X7 hopper, $8 well spent!

I use co2 because I mainly play bushball out in the forest so its much cheaper and practical to take 4 20oz co2 tanks with me instead of a $239 HPA tank.

Re: Winter Tinkering...

I know the economy is SNAFU right now, but if you plan on staying with CO2 I would highly recommend a stabilizer. In particular, the Palmers variety. I play mostly with HPA but when I had to use CO2 the other weekend, my shot consistancy was great. Before the Palmers Inline stab was installed I had fluctuations of around 20fps. Now the fluctuations are around 5fps or less.

Re: Winter Tinkering...

Honestly I've been doing well, I have been fortunately blessed.

I'd say a Reg dude. I would recommend a Palmer's Stab. It's what I have ordered for today on a two to 3 day shipping (It was only 8 bucks ) and people pretty much almost sware by them.

I got the inline and I'm taking it to my tech so they can have the hassle of setting it and installing it on my remote. They are also doing a NPT hose custom job for me. They will be hooking it up to my front A5 ASA running it through my stripped out Polymer AK mag and from there protruding from the mag will be a 45 degree angle attachment and a male quick disconnect for direct remote attachment. It will be sickly evil just wait.

Seconded.

And a regulator would be the way to go.

My current project now that my A-5 is finished is to trick out my Maverick, and restore the two old paintball markers I have recently acquired to their former glory. A force to be reckoned with!

Re: Winter Tinkering...

I know that initially CO2 is cheaper than HPA, but if you're playing in colder temperatures and you can get HPA refills, I'd really recommend switching. A regulator will smooth out the thermal pressure spikes, but it can' boost the pressure to operate your marker correctly if it gets really cold out. It also doesn't drain as fast as CO2 in the cold.

Re: Winter Tinkering...

For me this will be winter tinkering to get ready to play my final game for the year and for the upcoming spring.

The group I play with doesn't play winter ball.

But yeah for less drama, I concur, in winter ball switch to HPA if you can.
