Problem: I think the stock cocking handle on the A5 feels cheap and looks it too. I got the aluminum Trinity cocking rod upgrade, but the handle is boring and is too short if you have a shroud on your A5 like I do.

Solution: Mod your own cocking handle with the Trinity rod and a modded MP5 airsoft [gag] handle.

Step 1: I got an airsoft MP5 cocking handle. (I got mine for $5.00 from ebay.)



Step 2: I cut off the rod . . .

. . . leaving a piece that looks like this.



Step 3: The handle is rounded on the top and bottom and is too large to fit through the slot on the left side of the A5 receiver. I wanted to still be able to strip my A5 to clean it, so I filed down the top and bottom of the handle. . .

. . . leaving a flat, half-disc like handle that looks something like this.

[Note: Although I should have taken pics while I was making it, I didn't, so you're stuck with my paintbrushed images instead.]

Step 3: Using a file, I cut a slot into the side of the handle . . .

. . . so that I would have a place to seat the Trinity rod.

Steps 4 & 5: Using JB Weld, I "welded" the handle to the trinity rod, then painted after it dried.

Retrospect: When the JB Weld dried, the handle was a little crooked. The paint I used is also not very good and is starting to rub off. It feels study though, and it has held up fine to field testing. Only took about an afternoon's worth of work, and would have been much quicker if I weren't using just a hand file.

nice job! I have the trinity cocking handle as well and find it kind of short to pull back on.. I like what airhog has done for a few of his guns so I'll probably check that out soon
