I think I went overboard on the magazine but I didn't know that 3 in 1 oil could act as a paint remover, the magazine was originally a hue of grey so I sanded it and painted black. IN any case I want to look around maybe I can mod a 'U' channel to cover the tombstone in which case I will paint it black and weather it too. And I think I'll have to drybrush the rails in the shroud since they are the JCS composite rails not aluminum.

In the future I'm planning to put together a kit for an MP5SD based on your design Nauzerlvr, with the PVC non twisiting shroud included. Actually I modded the current handguard, which is a flatline shroud, to mount it over a regular barrel using some of the principles you shared with us. Thanks for the knowledge bro.

If you think you may have gone a little overboard you can always hit it with a quick spray of flat black, not enough to completely cover though, just enough to tone it down. Looks pretty darn good to me though. Good job!

Re: Weathering 101: A Nauzerlvr "How To"

If u painted your plastic parts with silver/aluminum first, then a light coat of black couldnt u "weather" them that way. Id try it but i only have cyclone mods on mine so only forgrip and trigger guard/frame are plastic. If i pick up a mag/magwell soon ill give it a go. Altho you'd probably have to make sure the metallic paint was a hard finish like "Duracoat" (Dbug your welcome for the product plug ) and the black a generic flat/satin spraybomb.

Could work in theory, could fail miserably in practice. Just dumpin ideas.

Now that i think of it the drybrush w/satin clearcoat sounds alot easier lol.
