yes down to the bare metal.
The paint will wrinkle up like pudding /custard skin and it works real fast. you'd be suprised. When It came to polishing my internals, I used this carfully to remove the overspary and washed. Then it was sanding.

It will also melt plastic and burn skin SO DONT USE INDOORS.

You can get aircraft stripper at any automotive store. Its called aircraft stripper. The brand shouldn't matter.

Re: Painting the A5

Uploading pics here in a sec. When I tried to use stripper I wasn,'t impressed with it. I have the older A5 where they painted the gun and not powder coat like they do now. I started bead blasting it at a friends until I/we killed the compressor. Payed 30$ to have it done at an automotive repair shop well worth it if you ask me. All I have are the before and end. I think.. Checking..

i actually used something very simliar in product. It was called "circa 1850". One point in advice, latex gloves will not work, they'll get eaten through. best is to use some sort of fiber paintbrush to put it on the receiver.

Re: Painting the A5

what I have seen is that sometime if the surface is really smooth and shiny you'll need to scuff it lightly with steel wool before you apply the stripper. This allows some of the solvent in to intiate the break down of the paint. Also if you leave the strippper in a cup in the open for more than a few hours it WILL lose its potentcy..

Re: Painting the A5

I had the older A5 with shiny coat and the stripper did fine. I did like 2 rounds of applying it since the first one didnt get everything.

Re: Painting the A5

Keep in mind, guys, that he lives in Southern California, so the Khaki tan would be perfect for that terrain!

Re: Painting the A5

Am still a fan of the bead blasting. Cheap and easy.

Anyways here are the really bad pics:

Here shown is the A5 with the PPB both powder coated flat black. You can see the shine of the gloss black on the drop forward, regulator and front adaptor. Not to worried as this comming winter or sooner will be Multi/Omni camoed I hope.

Link if unable to view: http://www.pbupload.com/data/500/med...tball_0011.jpg

Here is the left side just before the bead blasting. Its a bit more shinny.

Link if needed: http://www.pbupload.com/data/500/medium/dcp_0294.jpg

Here is a closer pic of the left side after powder coating.
