Re: HPA vs C02

Check the link in my sig if anyone has questions about HPA vs CO2. But for those specifically asked here, consider the following.

The weight factor can go either way. It depends on whether you get an aluminum or fiber wrap tank. Larger metal HPA tanks, like those 72 CI or larger, will weigh about the same as 20 - 24 oz CO2 tanks. Fiber wrap tanks are considerably lighter though. And CO2's liquid state has little to do with weight in comparison to the highly pressurized and thus dense state of HPA.

Most people don't consider all the costs that figure into tanks. Yes, a large CO2 tank is a lot cheaper than a small metal HPA tank. But don't forget about expenses like x-chambers and regulators to make CO2 behave. How much do refills cost? I've never seen free CO2 fills but I know a few ways to get free or discounted HPA fills. How many O-rings do you replace due to CO2 frost? Finally consider your shot performance. If you have inconsistent shot velocity from CO2, how many extra shots do you have to take to get your target? I'm not saying HPA always comes out on top but the margin is usually a lot closer than you may think.

As for a pressure guage on a CO2 tank, they're not common because they're not overly useful. Since CO2 has to evaporate into gas first, the pressure in the tank will stay between 500 - 1000 psi depending on the current temperature. Only after the liquid is all gone will the pressure drop, and then it will go fast.

Re: HPA vs C02

co2 , much more easer to get around here .
air > the only one shop here is open like 8 hours a week < wed 3-6 sat 12.00 -5.00>
this is the only spot to get air , so if u play on sat and dont get to shop before closed , u r **** out of luck for sunday .
i have tryed the scub and works just fine , but really need two scubs to fill a tank . but one will do .
so air is a pain to use , i looked into a compressor to fill and wow 3000.00 plus . guess be awhile for that lol.
now c02 is very easy to get , can rent bulk tanks and fill your own tanks <this is what i do > this is great for those games in a small field in the back yard and having fun with friends
now if you are in major games where shots matter and need much better results , then yes air all the way . but the people out behind their house playing with some friends and having fun c02 is great.

Re: HPA vs C02

I would say both....I have 4 co2 20oz tanks and one 72cu 3000 HPA....It's cheaper and easier to get fills for Co2...but for those humid or cold days....I usually pull out the HPA just to have some consistency.....

Re: HPA vs C02

HPA..

I recently purchased my 72/3000 for like 70 bucks, cdn. never used it yet...
It costs 2$ to fill here at a scuba shop.

A 20 oz tank costs like 40$ new.
and it costs 7$+ to fill.

so basically if I use my tank 10 times or something like that it pays for itself just in savings alone from a 20oz tank...

BTW how many shots do you think an a5 will get from a 72/3000?

Re: HPA vs C02

I run co2 only because I live out in the woods and the closest place is a army surplus 100 miles away. Run a palmers stabilizer and those gas spikes wont be so bad. Actually I think it shoots very nice. My question is if I run HPA do I still need my stabilzer?

It wouldn't hurt to keep it, but HPA is much more consistant out of the bottle than CO2 is.
