How to: 9.6v rechargable egrip remote

I noticed a fella at my field doing this with his x-7 andI thought this was a pretty good idea; for mainly two reasons. 1) I am now pushing 9.6 volts not the standard 9.2-9.4 depending on your battery brand (lower then that with rechargeable s). 2) I have over 2100 milli amp hours, meaning I wont run out of juice for my e-grip.
So I put together a fast how to. Bare in mind if you follow how i did this you can swap right back to a standard 9v battery if you really want to or your in a pinch. I used 9v battery connectors from radio shack to ensure I could always go back to my original set up. You dont need to do this you can splice right into the e-grip but i recommend it encase you need to send your marker to Tippmann for service.

I attached some pictures to help some of you not so imaginative folks.

First heres what you need
1) Battery and charger, I used an R/C 9.6v battery pack from radio shack
2) 9v battery plugs, this is to attach to the E grip so you dont have to cut the wires in the e-grip
3) Wire, electrical tape, and shrink wrap
4) 9.6v battery connectors, so you can take the wire on and off the gun, see pictures for details.

Now to get started.
first pull out on of the 9v battery connections you got. Splice this onto your wire about 8-9 inches worth. When you go to splice this onto the wire it is VERY IMPORTANT you connect red to black and black to red. This is because when connection the 9v battery connections the color of the wires on the connection you bought get reversed. This should be very obvious when you have the parts in front of you and are looking at them. Connect to the egrip and run the wires out of the bottom.
My egrip required no trimming for the wires to feed out of the bottom but my friends did so yours might also. I would suggest an x-acto knife or dremel but be car full not to take to much off.
Place back on the ASA so the wires are feeding over top. Connect the 9.6v battery connector to those wires.
Now your ready to make your remote wire. This is very easy, just run two wires the length you need to run from your vest or wherever you decide to place the battery. place the 9.6v battery connectors at either end. I used shrink wrap and electrical tape to help weather proof the wire.
You now should be able to run the wire through your Air line remote to the gun and connect it. Plug the battery in at the other end and power up you marker and check for function.
Please see attached pictures to help with how to.

Looks like its going to be in with his tank since its ran through the remote line. Or at least near it.

Sounds like it'll get snagged during play or even worst, get damage and have exposed wire.

Re: How to: 9.6v rechargable egrip remote

How about a mag, i was going too, but i hate the idea of having to use a mag as a foregrip, i want to make it velcro to the side or under the cyclone or something, i want to make a custom foregrip like a old tommy with the swept back foregrip, like the gangsters used or kinda like the 98, idk i made a pvc cover for my flatline that has a whole bunch of "cooling" holes which makes it look cool but i want to put a rail on the bottom

Re: How to: 9.6v rechargable egrip remote

This is a great writeup. I am going to use this idea to place a rechargeable battery in my Metadyne mag so I can more easily swap them out.

Green for you!
