Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

i'm still excitedly watching as this all comes together, i can visualize what Fraggy has in mind but the original still seems simpler.

Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

I'll see if I can whip up another version of this as well so we have two designs to compare.

Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

You can usually send something like this off to a machinist and they would make it for you. The underground mod shop would do this for you I think.

Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

if UMS was smart they'd mass produce them, because a lot of paintballers are going to want one, provided it was a quality product.

Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

I was messing around with the first design some and think I have a really good solution. Insteal of a U-shaped cap on the side rails, it will be dovetailed. On one of the caps, there will be a recessed hex hole to accomodate a hex bolt head. Also, there will be a metal sleeve between them. And since the caps can be slid off, they can be swapped so that the thumb screw is ambidextrous. That should solve almost any of the problems as far as alignment, wear, ease of use, assembly, and parts.

I just need to run to the hardware store to see what the proper sized bolt would be.

Re: Idea: Adjustable Picatinny Rail

I like the idea of a fully adjustable angle to offset the balls curve, then you can know how many "clicks" to angle the sight for whatever range you want to compensate for.
