| Re: My Mod-Plan Palmers brass barrels are pretty good. They are about sixty if you don't mind it being loud as heck. Porting, which helps reduce noise, costs $45-$65 extra.

| Re: My Mod-Plan 2) You really only need a clicky pen mod if you are using a response trigger, I probably wouldn't for a regular trigger but different strokes and all that. 3) You could probably find a Bigshot with an apex for around $70 if you look around a bit. The extra range really helps sometimes. Even if you decide not to get an apex or flatline right now you should really think about getting a barrel with an apex adapter available. Some examples would be a Palmer Brass, LAPCO Bigshot, or SpecOps C-series, all of which are from all accounts very nice barrels. 4) HPA is good, but if it isn't readily available in your area you could just get a Palmer Stabilizer, I have no experience with HPA myself but I hear some have said CO2 with a Stab works just as well. 5) If you get an E-Grip get an APE board. Depending on your play style that is not a bad list of ups. The only thing I can think of right now that you didn't list would be a cyclone upgrade. Most people seem to think Tech-T has the highest quality, but you may want to shop around if you are on a budget. The only ones I have heard real negative reviews for were Rap4, but I suppose they may have fixed the problems by now. Hope this helps.

| Re: My Mod-Plan you have a good start there! 1) A5. good choice! 2) not necisary, but ok. 3) lapco bigshot, J&J, PPS brass, some sort of barrel kit. 4) great idea! i would try to get a 4500 PSI if your field fills 4500 PSI. crossfire regulator if possible, they seem to be the best. talk to tomq, a forum member here, he sells great tanks for great prices. 5) e-grip, that will work, but you do not need it. you also don't need a double trigger, i find them useless when you have full auto capabilities. bolts, and powertubes don't seems to help at all. (what is a pillow bolt?) add: 1) your going to want to polish the internals on your A5, it helps a bunch. (search key time!) 2) buy a good mask that fits your face and is comfortable. 3) metal rachet. your going to want an aftermarket rachet because the stock one will break pretty quickly. techt, lapco, and JCS seem to be good companies for them. 4) soft paddles. your going to want these just as insurance so you have less cyclone breaks. techt, lapco and wargear make good ones. 5) aftermarket piston and rod. not really needed at all unless you plan on shooting at like 17 BPS plus. 6) vest. do you want a vest or a pod pack? most vests hold the tank so you will need a remote to your A5. if you get a pod pack, the tank will be on your gun. 7) stock. all personal preference. mostly looks, and a little bit if feeling. "washer first, then o-ring, the tombstone holds them al together" if you don't know what that means, you will soon! ![]() welcome to A5OG and enjoy your stay! |

| Re: My Mod-Plan an apex ready lapco bigshot barrel with an apex is the way to go for a reasonable price for an awesome combo. theres a couple sites that sell them together like paintball-online.com. and if you plan to increase you BPS since you plan to get an EGrip, upgrade your cyclone (squishy paddles, lightning rod, QEPH, metal vortex). look around the forum for suggestions on the cyclone since theres a couple choices for upgrades. for example, wargear has a thread here that offers a discount for a5og members for their flexi paddles ($10 plus S&H). HPA IS the way to go. don't hold out on it cause why buy CO2 now when you will get HPA later? its a good investment and will cost you less in the long run and won't give you as many problems and less concern on your internals. JUST DONT PUT OIL ON THE FILL NIPPLE. i would hold out on a stock for a while. play a couple games and see if you want it. the mask usually gets in the way anyway of most stocks and you wont be able to see down the sights unless you get rails, risers, another sight, etc. and will cost you more. i can suggest a Dogleg stock cause it gives you complete mask clearance. go get a x7 low profile hopper since the stock hopper is pretty bulky and sticks out like a sore thumb. the x7 hopper gives you 200 rds with a lower profile. and of course get a good mask. its up to you on what mask you should get cause everyone has a different shaped head/etc but from what i've seen/heard/felt vforce masks are the way to go. out of all your equipment, a mask is what you shouldnt skimp out on so find yourself a really good mask and youll never have to worry about getting another one for a looong time. and you could invest in some protection if you want. the only protection i have (which i feel is the most important if you're a dude) is a CUP. a vest is good if you plan to do longer games. and since youre running an A5, i would suggest that you get a remote line to make it lighter on yourself. and get yourself some good footwear if you dont have any. boots/cleats/anything with good traction. the rest of the stuff is up to your playing style. what i outlined above is what i feel is necessary for a newer player. paintball is an expensive sport/hobby for sure. so keep your eyes open for good deals. search through this forum for help/suggestions cause this forum is your greatest asset. i too am fairly new and i have learned SO MUCH from this forum. don't rush into buying things and read about them first. welcome to A5OG and i hope you enjoy your A5 |

| Re: My Mod-Plan I know you said you weren't interested in the flatline or Apex but I would highly recommend a 12" Lapco Bigshot with the Apex tip. The Lapco is very accurate and the 12" version is right where the experts say the optimal length for accuracy is (12 - 14 inches). When you go longer than 14" you experience drag which hurts range and accuracy. The Apex tip is great for more than just distance and it is far better than the Flatline (just search the forum and you will see the members preference weighs heavily towards the Apex over the Flatline). If you are going to get the E-Grip I would recommend Squishy paddles or Wargear paddles to avoid the cyclone blender effect. Consider the Response trigger as an alternative, doesn't get the same rate of fire but it is purely mechanical which means no batteries and no problems in inclement weather. Which spring are you replacing with the ballpoint pen spring? Is it the one behind the butt plate? What does that do? An upgraded ratchet is also recommended as the stock piece often breaks down quickly on the Tippmann.

| Re: My Mod-Plan Merelye: The reason i am not really interested in the apex tip is becuase i dont think ill really have time to adjust for backspin side spin and so on, thanks so much for the help =) DuffMUFFIN: Thanks for help man, i do plan on getting the rachet i will look into it and e-grip is now in question. ill look into apex a little more but im worried i wont have enough time to adjust. By polish, do you mean oil? or do you literally mean polish like shoe polish=shiny? Kenneththtsheridian: Thanks for help bro, and about that srping question i dont know what its called but its the spring the trigger pushes down on. I saw on youtube that PAINTBORG/BORGTECH(guy who makes paintball stuff/ shows you how to make it for cheaper) says that it has less resisstance. Orgezero: thanks im cutting down on ups and changing my list ill get back to you P.S. -- cyclone upgrades were all talking about are the spiiner things inside right? and would i want that soft one or a metal one so it doesnt break? P.S.#2(lol) -- Barrel kit... which is deadly accurate and quiet, if it doesnt have apex compatibility its fine ill ducttape. dont worry bout apex tip. price is no matter for the barrel. and is the point of a barrel kit for different bore sizes and anything else or just bore sizes? Sorry for late respondence it was first week back to school, im trying to gear up for next season and winter. James
