i agree completely, the barrel is always the first upgrade on an a5, the stock barrel will do u little to no good at distances exceeding 150-200ft, the apex is a very good investment also its easy to clean.

Re: First upgrade.

it depends on how much money you are looking to spend.

my first mods to my A5 were as follows:

*polished internals
*Tippmann Flatline barrel
*Lapco offset sight rail
*Tasco 30mm R.D.S.
*OPSGEAR MP5 Sliding stock
*Grip-Fab Flatline barrel shroud mod(absorbs noise)
*Grip-Fab non-slip hand grip pads
*48CI 3000PSI pure energy HPA

next im planning to add:

*Trinity drive spring kit(adds effeciency)
*JCS jet click mod(adds reliability)
*Palmer regulator(adds consistency and effeciency)

Re: First upgrade.

i got both a palmer AND an apex with my a-5 a few days ago. palmer first. you dont need HPA if you have it so dont bother with that.

just polish the [inside of the] stock barell and it will shoot just as good as any other upgrade.
